  1. Prawns     ½    Kg
  2. Ginger -chopped    1    pieces
  3. Garlic -chopped    6    nos.
  4. Green Chillies -chopped    3    no.
  5. Crushed Small Onion / Shallot     1    cup
  6. Turmeric Powder     ½    tsp
  7. Kudampuli     2    piece
  8. Chilli Powder     2    tsp
  9. Coriander Powder     1    tsp
  10. Pepper Powder     ½    tsp
  11. Garam Masala     1    tsp
  12. Fennel Seeds(Perumjeerakam) Powder    ½    tsp
  13. Curry Leaves     1    stalks
  14. Coconut Oil     2    tsp
  15. Thick Coconut Milk     ¼    cup
  16. Salt to taste     ½    tsp


  1. Heat oil in a pan and add choppepd garlic,ginger and green chilly and curry leaves fry for a minute followd by shallot and fry till goiden brown.
  2. Add turmeric powder followed by kukum,salt,coriander powder,chilly powder and pepper powder,fennal powder and garam masala.Add prawns and fry for aminute till it changes color.
  3. Now add the coconut millk and simmer till the masala is reduced.Keep this aside.
  4. Take banana leaves and gently place on the gas stove flame turning each side quickly till it changes this leaf on a plate and layer the prawns masala.Fold in from all side wrap the leaf and tie it.
  5. Heat a manchatti with lid or a tawa.
  6. Grease it with a little oil and place the warp in and cover and cook for 2-3 minutes turning sides in betwee.
  7. Serve with rice or pathiri.
