  1. Fish     1    Kg
  2. Pieces Drumsticks     15    nos.
  3. Chilly     4    nos.
  4. Pearl onion     8    nos.
  5. Ginger     1    piece
  6. Grated Coconut     1    cup
  7. Whole red chilly     8    nos.
  8. Turmeric Powder     ¾    tsp
  9. Coriander Seeds (Malli)     3    tbsp
  10. Fenugreek Seeds(Uluva)     ½    tsp
  11. Tamarind Lemon size    1    no.
  12. Mustard Seeds     ¾    tsp
  13. Curry Leaves     1    stalk


  1. First dry roast red chilly, coriander seeds and fenugreek seeds.Make a fine paste of the dry roasted ingredients along with ginger, coconut and tamarind. Keep this mixture aside.
  2. Clean and cut fish.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and curry leaves. When they splutter add chopped shallots, green chilly and salt and saute till onion changes colour. Add the ground paste and tamarind water and adjust consistency by adding enough water.
  4. Bring this to a boil and slide in the fish pieces and muringakka.
  5. Cover and cook in high heat for about a minute and then reduce and cook till the fish is done and the gravy thicken.
  6. Finally drizzle one tsp of fresh coconut oil and add a few curry leaves.
  7. Serve with rice.
